CONTEST - Choosing Mr. Mornay
Posted by Tina Dee Books | Labels: Giveaways, Linore Rose Burkard, Regency Romance | Posted On at 3:00 PM

Last month we enjoyed an interview with Phillip Mornay, the hero from Linore Rose Burkard's books, Before the Season Ends & The House In Grosvenor Square.

Many of you had a lot of fun with that and enjoyed reading Phillip's thoughts. As promised, this month we're teaming up with Linore and holding a contest to find the "Reader's Favorite" portrait of Mr. Mornay. We'll keep the contest running for a week or two, then tabulate the votes the results will run next month in Linore's newsletter. So, stop by Linore's site and sign up for it--it really is a wonderful newsletter, chock full of Regency period info.
Below are choices Linore has offered for Mr. Mornay look-alikes, along with her personal comments on each. Have fun!
Could this be the mysterious and brooding Phillip Mornay? You decide! Choose Portrait #1 if this fits your image of Phillip.

If you agree, choose Portrait #2.

but a little too "agreeable" looking, perhaps?
If not, choose Portrait #3.

Perfectly captures that "formidable face."
Portrait #4

Can't you just hear Mr. Mornay saying,
"I beg your pardon? Be off with you!"
Portrait #5

This is Johnny Depp as "The Libertine."
Certainly a character to be reckoned with--like Mornay.
Portrait #6

Colin Firth in his famous role of Mr. Darcy.
A Janeite favorite, he may be hard to contend with
--as Darcy, or as Mornay, as the case may be.
Portrait #7

Choose Portrait #8 a (YOUR left) or #8 b (right).

An illustration of Beau Brummell, that Regency "Original."
Could our wonderful Mr. Mornay have started out THIS obnoxious?
(I'm afraid so!)

made for me by an artist Tina will introduce at a later date.
She used the face of Dalton,
and based the garments loosely on
Portrait #1, above, to create the "perfect" Mr. Mornay.
Portrait 10 A (above)
If this is your choice, pick Portrait #11.
Greg Wise

Don't enter me in the contest, but my vote is 10B or 10C (if he were a little younger looking in 10C, I think it would be perfect).
I say #7, though #s 11 and 12 are equally wonderful!

My personal Mr. Mornay is Greg Wise as seen in this picture:

I think he looks perfect!

Okay can I just say this list is awesome!! That being said anything that has me choose between Richard Armitage and Elliot Cowan well...this girl can't do it! I just loved Elliot as Mr. Darcy in Lost in Austen (can you say BROODING??!!) and Richard Armitage was a total dreamboat in North and South (his accent was killer!!!!!!) Okay I have to quit before I short out my laptop by drooling all over it! So yeah, any of these guys would make a superb Mr. Mornay but I think I may just be leaning towards Richard Armitage for my choice! Can't wait to see what others have to say!

My choice is 10b.
10C does it for me. Definitely looks like Mornay. :-)
I'm sorry my link did not work! I'm not very computer savvy! I'll send you the pics!

Oh, this is a lot of fun and so far not any big trend. I'm all about #5.

Linore I haven't gotten my hands on Grosvenor Square yet so I'm basing this all on BTSE.
Great idea Tina and Linore
I vote for #7. What's not to love about Colin Firth--as long as he's not doing a nanny movie. I haven't read your book yet, Linore, but I've heard great things about it.
These votes are Soooo much fun to tally, I can't believe it. And I love that some of you had such strong ideas of Mr. Mornay that you had to send in your own images. Richard Armitage was a reader addition, and Carman, I would love to see the pic you had in mind.
The cool thing is that even with our differing choices, it's easy to see that Mornay is undeniably clear in everyone's mind as a handsome, brooding hero. Wait until you see him in the third book--The Country House Courtship--he isn't the "hero" of the book, but he will win your heart in the story in a new way.
Thanks for participating, and I'll be back to check on new votes before I tally them in the final count.
Hugs,
Linore
PS: Thank you, Tina, for having us back on your blog. Mr. Mornay and I are both greatly obliged. (Ariana is feeling cast aside, I'm afraid. Shall we vote on her next? What do you think, readers?)
I sent my pics to Tina. I would love to vote for Ariana, I already have someone picked out!
~Carman
If I can, I would like to change my vote to #13. If not, thats OK. Thanks!
~Carman
Hi Carmen, I think I'd like to change to #13 also. He looks more the age of Phillip Mornay, my first pick seemed a little older than I pictured him while reading BEFORE THE SEASON ENDS and HOUSE IN GROSVENOR SQUARE.
Linore:
So Carman & I (don't put me in the drawing) choose #13.
OK, ladies, #13 it is for you both. I can't pick Greg Wise because he is too much the villain for me!
